Plumbing
Winter in the Denver Metro area can be tough on your home’s plumbing, (and especially in our Colorado mountain towns) with freezing temperatures that put pipes at risk of bursting. To prevent costly repairs, keep your home heated to at least 55°F, even when you’re away. Maintaining a consistent temperature is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect your plumbing during the coldest months.

During extreme cold spells, let your faucets drip slightly to relieve pressure inside the pipes and prevent them from freezing. This small trick can save you from significant damage. Additionally, open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around pipes in areas like kitchens and bathrooms, especially if they’re located along exterior walls.

Don’t forget about your outdoor plumbing! Disconnect garden hoses and cover outdoor faucets with insulated covers to protect them from freezing temperatures. By taking these simple precautions, you can ensure your plumbing stays safe and functional throughout the winter in the Denver area. And if you do run into frozen pipes, call a trusted local plumber to minimize damage and get your system back on track.

Flow-Rite Plumbing is available in many parts of Colorado (even in Summit Country, Grand County, Eagle County and more), give us a call if we can help!
